When chefs cook for chefs and you’re invited



If “food and wine” are your middle and last names then you need to clear your calendar for the American Academy of Chefs dinner Saturday, June 23rd at 6 pm at the historic  Maryland Club, 1 East Eager Street, Baltimore.  The theme is East meets West:  Asian/Pacific rim meets Mid-Atlantic cuisine.

The honor society of American Culinary Federation (ACF), the American Academy of Chefs (AAC), represents the highest standards of professionalism in the organization, society and industry. The Academy’s primary mission is to promote the education of all culinarians by mentoring culinarians, awarding scholarships to students seeking a future in the culinary industry, and by providing grants to professional working chefs looking to further their career.

The Greater Baltimore Chapter (GBC) of the ACF is hosting this AAC dinner at the Maryland Club. Proceeds for the dinner will support the AAC scholarship fund at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) as well as donate to the ACF National Culinary Olympic Team.

Indulging in chocolate all night long provides health care for the homeless

Can someone in the background hum the theme from the television show Bonanza. Thank you! Why bonanza? Well it is time for the Chocolate Affair, Thursday, February 3rd, in fact, a milestone Chocolate Affair, 20 years and for those who attend, it is a chocolate bonanza. Over fifty restaurants, caterers and chocolatiers put out their most creative, edible chocolate creations, both sweet and savory, for attendees to enjoy and for the glory of having the best chocolate dish of the night.


Last year over 1,600 guests enjoyed the early evening cocktail bash raising $180,000 for homeless healthcare needs.

Hors d’oeuvres at Tiffany’s

No breakfast but hors d’oeuvres at Tiffany, the NEW Tiffany & Co.’s that opened this month inTowson Town Center.

Julekha Dash, writer for bmoremedia.com and friend, invited me to come along as her guest. For the grand opening gala many were dressed up to the nines, I managed a five and a half in my standard black ensemble.
