The dates have been set for Baltimore Restaurant Week

This is a drive-by as I head out very early to D.C. to help a friend in her kitchen. I recently got the dates for Baltimore Restaurant Week which is starting on Friday, January 22nd and running through Sunday, February 7th. Where as lunch comes with the incremental penny increase for 2010, the price in essence remains the same at $20.10.

The Beaujolais Nouveau is coming, the Beaujolais Nouveau is coming

Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine produced in the Beaujolais region of France using the Gamay grapes. This is a wine that is rushed to market and released on the third Thursday of November every year. It has little time to ferment or to build tannins and offers a fruitier flavor. This is not a wine that you keep in your wine rack for long periods of time; it should be consumed within the year of production.

Check out one very special dinner celebrating the Beaujolais Nouveau:

Food Network’s Chopped outreaching to Baltimore chefs

In the past couple of weeks I heard from two different Baltimore chefs that the Food Network’s cooking competition show, Chopped, hosted by Ted Allen has approached them to come to New York for an interview. Being food nosy, maybe I should say food curious, I gave the Chopped staff a call.

Why food? Women chefs and restaurateurs answer the question

Having so many talented women chefs and restaurateurs under one roof at the 2009 conference inspired me to ask the question, why food? For me food is the equivalent of love. My family believed we all sat around the dinner table, no TV, no newspapers and if there was texting that would have been forbidden as well. It was a time to share our stories of the day and feel the warmth of family.

Please share the passion of these chefs in the video, why food?
