Citron Restaurant and Bar: A legacy from the past and a fork to the future

Baltimore County, Quarry Lake off Greenspring Avenue is home to caterer Charles Levine’s dream come true restaurant, Citron.  Levine’s culinary career started at the iconic Pimlico Hotel Restaurant, working for his uncle, one of the partners and there was no looking back.

A number of you probably never heard of the Pimlico Hotel Restaurant although, many have; celebrities, dignitaries, sports figures and Baltimoreans dined there. It was “the place” to be and be seen, and featured a menu thick with culinary options from Chateaubriand to their big egg roll. There wasn’t an occasion that wasn’t celebrated at the Pimlico Hotel, in fact, that is where I had my wedding dinner. Always top-notch food and service, it was Baltimore’s premier restaurant.  My sensibilities feel Levine’s Citron yearns to pick up where Pimlico left off.

Waterview drinking and dining: Baltimore's Wit on the Water

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy.” Well, it sure is a whole lot better at Wit and Wisdom’s Wit on the Water patio overlooking Baltimore’s inner harbor.  Executive Chef Zack Mills has added a new outdoor kitchen with its own smoker and raw bar. There will also be a pig roast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in addition to live entertainment on Thursdays and Sundays, making Wit on the Water the prime destination throughout the summer and into early fall.

Guests are invited to “shuck it, shake it and smoke it” with shellfish and bivalves from local and regional waters, light and breezy cocktails created by master mixologist Aaron Joseph and of course the pulled pork and brisket from Chef Mills. The festivities kick off daily at 4:30 p.m. on Wit on the Water’s 85 seat patio. Even during the dog days of summer, guests enjoy the breeze off the water, the shade of the canopied tables and a tremendous view of the harbor’s waterway and of course, libations and wondrous edibles. Preserve Restaurant - American regional cuisine on Main Street Annapolis.

A short walk up from the marina on Annapolis’s Main Street is Preserve restaurant, a recent addition to state capital’s lunch, dinner and brunch dining establishments. Preserve is a salute on the plate and in a glass to what is fresh and local now and the art of preserving via canning, pickling and fermenting what vegetables and fruits were in their prime seasons before.

On a pleasantly warm evening in May when I dined at Preserve the garage-styled, rolling front wall was up and pleasant breezes from the bay wafted through the small, but smartly designed restaurant.

Wit on the Water is back: Come to the party

I just might be biased being a Baltimorean but I love our harbor view. Probably one of the best is from the Four Season’s Wit and Wisdom Tavern, especially at night as the colored lights and the sunset reflect on the water, a view not to be missed. Even better is their al fresco bar and dining, Wit on the Water.

To formally kick off this season’s reopening of Wit on the Water, Wit & Wisdom will host a launch event with Audi Hunt Valley to unveil the new 2015 Audi A3, a compact car breaking ground in its class. This one-time event on Wednesday, April 9, beginning at 4 p.m. will feature live music, light fare, a photo booth and an exclusive chance to preview the new A3 model.

Get all the detail and mark your calender to attend HERE.
